Try before you buy
The trial version is distributed by the manufacturer itself. We recommend installing it before buying – especially if you are not yet sure which version you need.
Trial versions
Windows
FineReader PDF trial version
7 days, up to 100 pages for conversion. All Corporate features work – including document comparison and automated processing.
macOS
FineReader PDF for Mac trial version
7 days, up to 100 pages for conversion, all Mac version features.
For organizations
Team trial
The manufacturer also has a wider trial option: 30 days, up to 500 pages and 5 licenses – so several people can test it at once.
Free forever
FineReader PDF Viewer
Free manufacturer program for viewing, commenting and printing PDFs. You cannot edit or recognize text with it, but it is quite enough for reading and commenting documents.
Links lead to the official manufacturer website pdf.abbyy.com. We do not host installation files on our server – this way you can be sure you are installing the original file.
What to know about the trial version
After 7 days
The program does not stop working completely
After the trial period ends, the basic viewing features keep working – you can open, comment and print PDFs. Editing, recognition and conversion require a license.
Page limit
100 pages – in total
The limit applies to saving conversion results after text recognition and is counted for the whole trial period, not per day. Automated processing via a watched folder also counts towards the same limit.
What to test during the trial
Your own real documents
Do not rely on demo files. Take the scan you work with most often – the worst quality one, with tables or in two languages – and see what the result is. That is exactly why the trial version exists.
Once you have decided
No need to reinstall the program
After buying, just enter the serial number you received in the same program – it becomes the full version, and your documents and settings stay in place.
Not sure which version you need?
Tell us what documents you work with – we will tell you whether Standard is enough or you need Corporate, and whether the Mac version fits.
